WASHINGTON — The Whole-of-America response to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic continues this weekend, as President Donald Trump visited the men and women aboard USNS Comfort (T-AH-20) Saturday at Naval Station, Norfolk, Va., before the hospital ship deployed to New York in support of the nation’s COVID-19 response efforts. Comfort will serve as a referral hospital for non-COVID-19 patients currently admitted to shore-based hospitals, allowing shore-based hospitals to focus their efforts on COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, National Guardsmen work diligently to restock grocery store shelves and operate COVID-19 test sites in cities throughout the country.

Under the direction of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, FEMA, HHS and our federal partners are working with state, local, tribal and territorial governments to execute a whole of government response to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and protect the public.
