FEMA Provides $2.8 Million To National Jewish Health for Colorado COVID-19 Response

DENVER – FEMA has approved an additional $2.8 million in Public Assistance funding for the COVID-19 response in Colorado. The assistance was made available under a major disaster declaration issued March 28, 2020. FEMA has now provided more than $1.7 billion in Public Assistance grant funds for Colorado’s COVID-19 response to date.

The FEMA Public Assistance funds were awarded to National Jewish Health to reimburse the facility for the cost of COVID-19 clinical care and testing performed between February 8, 2020, and November 2, 2021. Costs eligible for grant funding include the cost of staffing, equipment for temporary testing sites, cleaning and disinfection services, vaccine storage and personal protective equipment to protect the health and safety of healthcare workers along with students at the associated school. National Jewish Health is a private non-profit medical care facility.

For the COVID-19 response, FEMA has simplified the Public Assistance application and funding process to address the magnitude of this event and to allow state and local governments to receive eligible funding more quickly. These reimbursements play a critical role as state, tribal and local officials work to assist their communities during this response.
