WASHINGTON — The whole-of-America response to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic continued today, as medical supplies arrived in Chicago via FEMA’s Project Airbridge, for distribution to hard-hit areas around the country.  NATO ally Turkey donated other much needed supplies, such as gloves, goggles and hand sanitizer to support America’s fight against the virus.

Meanwhile, FEMA continues to expedite movement of commercially pre-sourced and procured critical supplies from the global market to medical distributors in various locations across the U.S. through Project Airbridge.

As of April 28, Project Airbridge has completed 95 flights with an additional 22 scheduled or in transit.  Six flights landed Tuesday, four in Chicago and two in Los Angeles.  Five flights are scheduled to land today, two in Chicago, and one each in Baltimore, Los Angeles and New York.

Through Project Airbridge, the following supplies have been delivered from overseas manufacturers to the U.S. and into private sector supply chains from March 29 to April 28:

  • More than 768,000 N-95 masks.
  • More than 751 million gloves.
  • More than 71.5 million surgical masks.
  • More than 10 million surgical gowns.
  • Nearly 2.1 million thermometers.
  • More than 562,000 face shields.
  • More than 195,000 coveralls.

Turkey, a NATO ally of the United States, sent supplies including medical gloves, masks, protective goggles and clothing and hand sanitizer to support the U.S. government’s fight against COVID-19.

Project Airbridge Delivers Supplies for Distribution

CHICAGO (April 29, 2020) — A FEMA Project Airbridge flight arrives at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport with medical supplies for distribution by companies nationwide in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. FEMA is chartering planes to bring supplies for companies to decrease the shipping time for critical supplies, such as N-95 respirators, surgical masks, gloves and gowns.

3rd Medical Battalion Conducts Swab Tests on Theodore Roosevelt Sailors

NAVAL BASE GUAM (April 28, 2020) — A U.S. Navy corpsman with 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group swabs a Sailor assigned to aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, to help verify a negative COVID-19 test result. Theodore Roosevelt is currently docked at Naval Base Guam where Sailors assigned to the ship are practicing social distancing and following other guidelines from the CDC, U.S. Navy and the Governor of Guam as part of COVID-19 mitigation effort during a scheduled deployment to the Indo-Pacific.

USS Theodore Roosevelt Begins New Recovery Phase

NAVAL BASE GUAM (April 29, 2020) — Sailors assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt prepare to embark the ship after weeks of cleaning and essential watch standing. Thousands of Sailors from Theodore Roosevelt were moved to local hotels to implement an aggressive mitigation strategy to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health of the Sailors.
