FACT SHEET: Recovery at a Glance - Gulf County

Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Michael, Gulf County residents have received more

than $87.4 million in total federal funds:*

 More than $9.3 million in federal grants have gone to almost 1,635 homeowners and renters.

 944 flood insurance claims have been filed. An estimated $43.9 million in claims have been

paid.

 More than $34 million in U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans have

been approved for 521 homeowners and renters and 34 businesses.

Housing Assistance:

 More than $5.6 million have been approved for basic housing repairs for 817.

 More than 3,900 home inspections have been issued and more than 98 percent.

 Disaster Survivor Assistance teams have conducted outreach with 2,203 home visits helping with

registration, answering questions, providing case updates and making referrals to other recovery

partners for needs beyond what FEMA can assist with.

 1,076 homeowners and renters have been approved for rental assistance.

 26 survivor households are checked into hotels through the Transitional Sheltering Assistance

program.

 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has installed 704 blue roofs in Gulf representing 704 families

who can live in their homes while they make permanent repairs.

 Gulf County is approved for FEMA Direct Temporary Housing Assistance. Working with

Florida Division of Emergency Management, Gulf County and Volunteer Florida, debris is being

cleared from private and commercial sites and travel trailers and manufactured housing units are

being provided for eligible households.

Outreach to Survivors:

 The disaster recovery center at Port Saint Joe opened Oct. 26 and has assisted more than 2,311

visitors. The Wewahitchka DRC opened Oct. 30 and has assisted more than 1,317 visitors.
