Jefferson Parish, Louisiana: $19 million

Project Description

Louisiana has a long history with major hurricanes. In 2020, Jefferson Parish updated their hazard mitigation plan. Updates to the plan includes prioritizing and protecting the electricity distribution systems from hurricanes. These systems provide power to parish residents, companies and essential infrastructure. This service is a critical lifeline, especially after a disaster.

The goal of this project is to harden power infrastructure to protect residents, essential businesses and emergency service providers from hurricane-force winds. The project will upgrade poles and wire to withstand 150-mph winds and lightning strikes. As a result, the project should decrease the risk of power outages to residents and critical facilities.
