If your furnace or heating system was damaged or if you lost water because a private well or septic system was damaged by Tropical Storm Debby from August 9-10, 2024, you may be eligible for financial assistance under FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program. Residents of Lycoming, Potter, Tioga and Union counties are eligible to apply. The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is November 12, 2024.

FEMA disaster assistance may provide reimbursement for the cost of a professional and licensed technician’s estimate of the repair or replacement of these items. You may also receive assistance for the actual repair or replacement of these items not typically covered by homeowner’s insurance.
Remember to save and submit estimates and receipts. These can include receipts from contactors.
When applying for assistance, be sure to include damages to furnaces, septic systems, private roads, private bridges, or private wells on your form. If you have already had an inspection and damage to the well, septic system, furnace, or heating system wasn’t reported, contact the FEMA Helpline at (800) 621-3362 or visit a Disaster Recovery Center to receive instructions about how to amend your application.
