User Guidance, Technical Manuals, and Other Modeling Resources
User Guidance Documents are designed to help users navigate Hazus software to complete a risk assessment project. Technical Manuals provide detailed information about the expert methodologies used by each Hazus model. Hazus Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): SOPs are available for creating earthquake scenarios and performing Hazus Level 2 flood analyses. They contain step-by-step instructions and best practices.
Advanced Engineering Building Module (AEBM) Technical and User's Manual: The AEBM manuals describe procedures for developing building-specific damage and loss functions for the Hazus earthquake module. Download the AEBM Technical and User's Manual.
Hazus Risk Assessment Training
Hazus training educates users on the application of Hazus earthquake, flood, hurricane, and tsunami models. These resources also include useful GIS and risk assessment concepts and specialized instruction for emergency managers. Students are educated on all steps of the loss estimation process, from data management and inventory improvement to running a loss analysis.

In-Person Training and Hazus Certifications
Beginning Oct. 1, 2021, in-person Hazus training will no longer be provided at FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute (EMI) in Emmitsburg, Maryland or at the Incident Workforce Academy in Anniston, Alabama. Hazus Certifications will also be discontinued on this date.
