RALEIGH, N.C. —Residents of Guilford and Rockingham counties who need answers to their questions about disaster aid or help with their application for FEMA assistance have access to a toll-free Helpline, 800-621-3362.
Many residents of the two counties are already familiar with the number – if they registered for disaster assistance for losses suffered during the April 15 tornado and severe storms.
For those that have registered for assistance, the recovery experts who answer the Helpline have access to applicants’ records and can answer questions on eligibility, missing information that may be needed, timeframes, appeals, and much more. They can also direct applicants to other forms of assistance that may be available. All calls are confidential.
The toll-free numbers are open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
Applicants who use 711 or Video Relay Service may also call the Helpline at 800-621-3362. Persons who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability and use a TTY may call 800-462-7585. Multilingual operators are available.
Disaster assistance can include money for rental assistance, essential home repairs, personal property loss and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance.
Residents of Guilford and Rockingham counties who suffered losses as a result of the April 15 tornado and have not registered for federal disaster assistance have until July 9, 2018 to do so. To register, call 800-621-3362, or go online to DisasterAssistance.gov.
