Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Michael, Franklin County residents have received
more than $13.45 million in total federal funds:*
- More than $1.5 million in federal grants have gone to 368 homeowners and renters.
- More than 760 flood insurance claims have been filed. An estimated $7.7 million in claims have been paid.
- More than $4.1 million in U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans have been approved for 84 homeowners and renters and 12 businesses.
Housing Assistance:
- Nearly $996,000 have been approved for basic housing repairs for 222 homeowners.
- More than 1,098 home inspections have been issued and more than 99 percent completed.
- Disaster Survivor Assistance teams have conducted outreach with 250 home visits helping with registration, answering questions, providing case updates and making referrals to other recovery partners for needs beyond what FEMA can assist with.
- 193 homeowners and renters have been approved for rental assistance.
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has installed 23 blue roofs in Franklin representing 23 families who are able to live in their homes while they make permanent repairs.
- Franklin County is approved for FEMA Direct Temporary Housing Assistance. Working with
- Florida Division of Emergency Management, Franklin County and Volunteer Florida, debris is being cleared from private and commercial sites and travel trailers and manufactured housing units are being provided for eligible households.
Outreach to Survivors:
- The disaster recovery center at the Carrabelle Public Library opened Oct. 23 and has assisted more than 1,084.
