BATON ROUGE, La. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is required by law to provide public notice of its intent to provide federal assistance and grant opportunities via the Public Assistance (PA), Individual Assistance (IA) or Hazard Mitigation Grant (HMGP) programs. A public notice for the current disaster recovery mission is posted at https://www.fema.gov/disaster-federal-register-notice/dr-4559-la-and-em-3538-la-public-notice.
This public notice addresses the agency’s intention to reimburse eligible applicants for costs to repair or replace facilities damaged by Hurricane Laura, occurring Aug. 22 to Aug. 27, 2020. This public notice concerns activities that may affect historic properties, activities that are located in or may affect wetland areas or the 100-year floodplain, and critical actions within the 500-year floodplain. The notice describes the agency’s legal requirement to include the public in its evaluation of proposed activities’ impact to or by floodplains and wetlands; and effects to historic resources.
This may be the only public notice provided regarding these FEMA actions. Public comments will be accepted for 30 days beginning on Sept. 18, 2020 and ending on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2020 at 4 p.m. Interested persons may obtain information about these actions or a specific project by writing to Jerame Cramer, Environmental Historic Preservation Advisor (EHAD), Federal Emergency Management Agency, 1500 Main St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802 or by emailing fema-liro-ehp-pa@fema.dhs.gov. Comments should be sent in writing within 30 days of the date of this notice.
