DENVER – The Disaster Recovery Center located at 1755 S. Public Road, Lafayette, Colorado will close and end operations at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022.
After the Disaster Recovery Center closes, personalized assistance with FEMA-related questions will still be available to disaster survivors over the phone and virtually.
Many of the services that have been available at the Disaster Recovery Center are available through DisasterAssistance.gov, the FEMA mobile app or by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. Multilingual operators are available. The toll-free number is open every day from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. MST. If you use a relay service, such as video relay service (VRS), captioned telephone service or others, give FEMA the number for that service.
FEMA can assist you with the following:
- Provide a change of address, telephone and bank account numbers, and insurance information to avoid disaster assistance processing delays;
- Receive information about FEMA home inspections;
- Get other questions answered about federal disaster assistance;
- Ask questions about a letter from FEMA;
- Learn how to appeal a FEMA decision. All applicants may appeal.
Mitigation Assistance
FEMA’s Mitigation Community Education & Outreach team provides mitigation advice to community members affected by the Marshall Fire and straight-line wind event. Topics include home repair, ignition resistant construction, wind resistant construction, putting together supply kits, and hiring a contractor. With the closing of the DRC, FEMA Mitigation advice will still be available through the Mitigation Helpline and email address:
