Press Releases and Fact Sheets
Severe winter weather is expected to impact communities nationwide, with the potential to create hazardous conditions across the country. The worst impacts are expected in eastern Wisconsin, Michigan, northern Indiana, northeast Illinois and northern Ohio, including limited accessibility and travel due to snow covered roads, as well as power outages and wind chills well below zero.
The Field Leadership Directorate, within the Office of Response and Recovery at FEMA, is searching for experienced disaster management leaders for the launch of a new National Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT) focused on Homeland Security Incidents. This team will be tasked with responding to incidents that fall outside of the authorities of the Stafford Act but require a coordinated federal or DHS response.
FEMA has released $248,625 for a Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) Congressional Community Project to reduce street flooding and maintain emergency access for residents near Lake St. Clair. The new storm water pump station located at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Masonic Boulevard will include the replacement of sidewalks and pavement and a new storm conveyance system designed to prevent flooding to nearby roadways.
