The CDC is providing recommendations to federal, state, and local governments about who should be vaccinated first.

CDC’s recommendations are based on those of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, an independent panel of medical and health experts.

Accelerate Vaccine Efforts

More healthcare personnel is needed to assist with COVID-19 vaccination efforts. Sign up to administer the vaccine in your community.

FEMA will reimburse state, local, tribal and territorial governments and the District of Columbia for the use of their National Guard to respond to COVID-19 at a 100% cost share until Sept. 30, 2021.

We will expedite reimbursement for eligible emergency work projects as appropriate and consistent with applicable law. Such assistance may include but is not limited to:

We are working with HHS and other federal agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to using Defense Production Act authorities wherever necessary so private sector companies can increase vaccine supply and spur vaccine manufacturing.

Ensuring Equitable Vaccine Access

FEMA is committed to ensuring every person who wants a vaccine can get one. We are supporting states, tribes and territories by providing equipment, funding and personnel to vaccination centers.

FEMA established a Civil Rights Advisory Group to help ensure equity in the allocation of scarce resources, including any additional future allocations of vaccine. The group includes members from FEMA program offices, and other federal agencies:

  • Health and Human Services (HHS)
  • HHS, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  • HHS, Administration for Community Living
  • HHS, Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response
  • Housing and Urban Development
  • Department of Justice Civil Rights Division

After administering more than 10,000 vaccinations across 12 communities in Maine since its launch on April 12, the Maine Mobile Vaccination Unit (MVU) will end its mission Friday, June 18, 2021, in Old Orchard Beach.

The federal COVID Vaccination Site in Pueblo has wrapped up operations after nine weeks of serving residents of Colorado.

The second Connecticut Mobile Vaccination Unit, which went into service on May 7, has ended operations today, June 16. The unit concluded its eleven-city tour at the Bridgeport Department of Health, 752 East Main Street in Bridgeport today.

When states began requesting federal support to advance the COVID-19 vaccination mission, FEMA was quick to respond, readily available to aid communities in need. In Pennsylvania, the City of Philadelphia received FEMA support at two mass vaccination clinics: The Center City Vaccination Center (CCVC), a Type 1 federal pilot Community Vaccination Center, and the Esperanza Community Vaccination Center (ECVC), a Type 2 pilot site in North Philadelphia.

GREENBELT, Md. – After providing more than 115,000 shots in arms, the team at the FEMA-run Greenbelt Community Vaccination Center (CVC) will offer its final vaccinations Tuesday, June 1.

Region 1- Since the March 17 opening of the joint state-federal Downtown Providence Community Vaccination Center, more than 110,000 vaccinations have been given to Rhode Island residents. On May 29th the leadership and operations of the Dunkin Donuts Center will transition to State contracted staff. This transition of staff will ensure Rhode Island will have available resources to continue supporting their vaccination plans.
