Robert “Rob” Ashe serves as the Acting Regional Administrator for FEMA Region 4.
Selected in June 2025, Ashe is responsible for supporting FEMA’s mission to serve state, local and tribal governments in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Ashe joined FEMA in 2020 as Region 4’s Deputy Division Director of Mission Support Division. He then served as the region’s National Preparedness Division Director from December 2022 until being selected as Deputy Regional Administrator in June 2024.
After 29 years of service with the United States Army, Ashe retired as a Colonel after commanding a brigade combat team and working at the executive level at the Pentagon. His final assignment was with United States Army North as the Defense Coordinating Officer for FEMA Region 4. Ashe deployed in support of Hurricanes Irma, Florence, and Michael, and directed the employment of significant Department of Defense forces from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines in support of the region’s response operations.
Ashe has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Albany State University, a Master of Military Science degree from The School of Advanced Military Studies, and a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the Army War College. His awards and decorations include The Distinguished Service Medal, (2) Legion of Merit, (3) Bronze Stars, (6) Meritorious Service Medals, and the Combat Action Badge.
He is married and has two sons.
