TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The State/FEMA disaster recovery center in Calhoun County will close at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22. Help is still available by phone, online or by visiting a nearby center.
FEMA will continue to work with state and local authorities in Calhoun County on recovery from Hurricane Michael. The center opened Oct. 26 in the Blountstown Public Library, 17731 NE Pear St., Blountstown, FL 32424. More than 3,978 survivor visits have been made.
Hurricane Michael survivors can continue to receive answers to questions and check the status of their FEMA applications by visiting any of the remaining centers. Center locations can be found online at FEMA.gov/DRC.
Most of the same services are available by going online to DisasterAssistance.gov or calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 or 800-462-7585 (TTY) anytime from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week. Multilingual operators are available.
FEMA coordinates with the State of Florida to determine where disaster recovery centers are located and how long they are needed. The decision to close is based upon declining use by survivors.
