National Dam Safety Awareness Day Banner
National Dam Safety Awareness Day seeks to encourage and promote individual and community responsibility and best practices for dam safety, as well as what steps can be taken to prevent catastrophic dam failures. The theme for National Dam Safety Awareness Day 2024 on May 31, is, " Building Resilience: Safeguarding Our Nation's Dams and Empowering Communities."

The application period is now open for the FEMA Region 5 Virtual Internship Program, an opportunity for students living in or attending colleges or universities in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin to get hands-on training in the growing field of emergency management. These unpaid positions will offer students the chance to learn about FEMA programs and services and gain real-world experience with the potential for future full-time employment at FEMA or another federal agency.

All Disaster Recovery Centers in Indiana will be closed Memorial Day weekend, May 27 – 29. They will reopen Tuesday, May 30, with their normal hours.
