National Dam Safety Awareness Day seeks to encourage and promote individual and community responsibility and best practices for dam safety, as well as what steps can be taken to prevent catastrophic dam failures. The theme for National Dam Safety Awareness Day 2023 on May 31, is, "Dam Safety is a shared responsibility. Know your risk, know your role, know the benefits of dams and take action."

FEMA’s Chief Component Procurement Officer and FEMA Region 9 are facilitating a webinar for businesses in American Samoa, Arizona, California, Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, Hawai’i, Guam, Nevada, and the Republic of Marshall Islands Federated States of Micronesia that want to learn how to do business with FEMA. The webinar will review FEMA’s small business program, category management, contracting, regional coordination, and include presentations from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration and Minority Business Development Agency.
The Field Leadership Directorate, within the Office of Response and Recovery at FEMA, is searching for experienced disaster management leaders for the launch of a new National Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT) focused on Homeland Security Incidents. This team will be tasked with responding to incidents that fall outside of the authorities of the Stafford Act but require a coordinated federal or DHS response.
FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the territory of American Samoa to supplement territorial and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by high surf, high winds and flooding July 12-15, 2022.
