Guam-Based FEMA Team Provides Local Support Before, During, and After Disasters

Oakland, CA – This year, Guam welcomed two employees of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to work directly with Guam Homeland Security – Office of Civil Defense (GHS-OCD). The FEMA staff form one of 25 FEMA Integration Teams (FIT) that work in territorial and state emergency management offices to address needs and challenges. The structure of each FIT is determined through discussions between FEMA and individual states or territories and varies according to local needs.

Federal Dollars Approved to Assist Cal Fire with Camp, Hill and Woolsey Wildfires

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Recovery continues for California communities impacted by the Camp, Hill and Woolsey wildfires, which all started November 8, 2018. FEMA has now approved $76,755,681 to reimburse the State for emergency protective measures performed by the California Department of Forestry and Fire (Cal Fire) for costs associated with battling last November’s wildfires under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.

 WASHINGTON – FEMA announced that federal aid has been made available to the state of California to supplement state and local response efforts in the areas affected by earthquakes beginning on July 4, 2019 and continuing.

Sonoma Water’s Ely Booster Station Protected Against Floods and Earthquakes

Oakland, Calif. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) granted $2.3 million to Sonoma Water to provide Ely Booster Station protection against a 500-year flood and 7.0 magnitude earthquake. Work will include sealing and elevating electrical equipment above the 500-year floodplain, replacing the pump motor housing structures and switchgear equipment, and anchoring equipment critical to the operation of the booster station.
