Households that may not normally be eligible under regular Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) rules may qualify for D-SNAP if they meet certain criteria:
- Must NOT be receiving regular SNAP benefits
- Must have been living or working in a disaster-declared county at the time of Hurricane Ian.
- Must fall within certain income limits.
- Must have suffered a disaster-related loss such as:
- Damage to their home or self-employment property
- Loss of food
- Reduction or loss of income
- Other disaster-related expenses
Eligible households will receive one month of benefits they can use to purchase groceries at SNAP-authorized stores or from select retailers online to meet their temporary food needs as they settle back home following the disaster.
Details on Florida’s D-SNAP program will be available at the Florida Department of Children and Families’ Hurricane Ian Response & Recovery website. D-SNAP sites will be posted on the website as they become available.
