FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell announced today that President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. made additional disaster assistance available for the state of New Mexico.

If you applied for FEMA assistance and have not received a response or if your application was deemed ineligible, we’re probably missing some vital information. At present, we have applications that cannot be processed due to missing insurance documents or other required information.

FEMA determines eligibility for its Individual Assistance program, which includes housing assistance. To be considered, residents should only complete one disaster assistance application. Not everyone will be eligible; however, FEMA’s temporary housing options can provide support to residents who qualify.

FEMA has amended New Mexico’s disaster declaration to include assistance for flooding, mudflows and debris flows for residents in Colfax, Lincoln, Mora, San Miguel and Valencia counties.

FEMA and the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (NMDHSEM) caution disaster survivors to be aware of post-disaster fraud and scams. Attempts to scam residents can be made over the phone, by mail or email, through the internet or in person. It is important to remain alert, as con artists are creative and resourceful. If an offer sounds too good to be true, it should be questioned.
