Tulsa County, Oklahoma: $1.17 Million

In May 2019, Tulsa County experienced record-setting precipitation that caused a riverine flood and damaged about 1,300 homes. Only 31% of those homes had flood insurance. In response, Tulsa County is developing a comprehensive floodplain buyout program and will buy and demolish homes in the Special Flood Hazard Area.

In this project, Tulsa County will acquire and demolish four single-family homes. These homes suffered damage in the 2019 floods and have active National Flood Insurance Program policies with seven Severe Repetitive and Repetitive Loss paid claims. The county will maintain each property as open space in perpetuity.
