St. Charles Parish will raise 14 flood-prone structures to prevent future damage and reduce National Flood Insurance Program paid claims.
St. Charles Parish, Louisiana: $2.41 million
St. Charles Parish will elevate 14 structures to prevent future damage and to reduce the 54 National Flood Insurance Program paid claims these properties have received. To determine the most effective standard for elevation, the St. Charles Parish floodplain manager is reviewing each property against Base Flood Elevation (BFE) information and best practices. Structures will be elevated to two feet above BFE. Some properties sit above the regulatory Base Flood Elevation but are still experiencing flooding. These structures will be elevated to three feet above the BFE.
