Jefferson Parish has identified 16 flood-prone structures to raise to two feet above the Base Flood Elevation. Of those structures, there have been 27 Severe Repetitive and Repetitive Loss claims. The engineering design phase will inform how to raise the structures, such as raising the structure on a wood frame, raising the slab, or separating the slab. Jefferson Parish will also install green infrastructure, such as rain barrels, rain gardens, and pervious pavement to shield the structures from flooding and erosion.
