Acting Deputy Associate Administrator
Mr. Mark Peterson is the Acting Deputy Associate Administrator for External Affairs. He is the Director of External Affairs for FEMA Region 5. He began his FEMA career in 2005 as a Reservist and has since held a variety of roles at both FEMA Headquarters and in the region. Mr. Peterson has led communications for several of FEMA’s largest disasters and has previously served as Acting Press Secretary, Acting Public Affairs Director, and Acting External Affairs Director. He holds a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Dayton.
