FEMA is proposing updates to the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for the City of Falls Church, Virginia. The community is invited to participate in a second 90-day appeal and comment period starting on November 3, 2022.
The updated maps were produced in coordination with local, state and FEMA officials. Significant community review of the maps has already taken place, but before the maps become final, community members can identify corrections or questions about the information provided and submit appeals or comments.
Natural disasters don’t wait for a convenient time. Preparing your family and your home shouldn’t wait either. Disasters affect everyone, and it’s important to teach our children how to prepare for disasters and emergencies.
Join FEMA Region 3 for an engaging overview of youth and family disaster preparedness tools and resources as we observe National Preparedness Month.
As kids start returning to school, preparing for emergencies should be a part of that process. FEMA Region 5 encourages all families to take the time now to talk about potential disaster risks and steps to stay safe if the unexpected occurs.
