FEMA Awards Funds for Roosevelt Wildfire Response

DENVER – FEMA has awarded an additional $1.63 million to the Wyoming State Forestry Division to cover costs of fighting the Roosevelt Wildfire that impacted portions of western Wyoming in 2018.

The Roosevelt Fire began in Sublette County in September of 2018 and threatened over 250 homes and the Hoback watershed causing the mandatory evacuation of nearly 500 residents.   The FEMA grant will reimburse the Wyoming State Forestry Division for 75 percent of the cost of fire suppression activities including the cost of personnel, equipment, travel expenses, supplies and materials to fight the fire.

The funds are provided from FEMA’s Public Assistance program under the Fire Management Assistance declaration for Wyoming issued on September 18, 2018, in response to the Roosevelt wildfire.

FEMA has now approved more than $1.69 million in Public Assistance grant funds for Roosevelt Wildfire response.
