DENVER – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has partnered with the State of Colorado to establish a federal pilot Community Vaccination Site at the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo, Colorado. It is intended to significantly increase vaccination capacity in the community and help ensure vaccine access to underserved members of Pueblo and surrounding communities.

The Community Vaccination Site at the fairgrounds formally transitioned on April 14, 2021, adding federal support that includes a 140-person Army medical team. This site is the only federal pilot site in the State of Colorado and FEMA Region 8.

“There are many types of barriers, racial, lack of transportation, lack of internet, disabilities and this site is designed to break down those barriers and allow anyone who wants a vaccine to get one, said FEMA Region 8 Acting Regional Administrator Nancy Dragani. “That is why we are here in partnership with the state and county.”
