COLUMBIA, S.C. – All State of South Carolina/Federal Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, Thursday and Friday, Nov. 22-23, 2018. The DRCs will reopen at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24.
Help is still available during the holiday. Homeowners, renters and businesses can register or check their eligibility for federal, state and voluntary agency disaster assistance by:
- Calling 800-621-3362 (TTY: 800-462-7585) during the hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; or
- Visiting DisasterAssistance.gov.
As of Saturday, Nov. 24, all DRCs will be open Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sat, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; closed Sunday.
Disaster survivors can visit any center for assistance. Visit www.fema.gov/DRC to view all DRC locations. South Carolina homeowners, renters and business owners in Chesterfield, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Marion and Marlboro counties may apply for disaster assistance for uninsured and underinsured damage and losses resulting from Hurricane Florence.
The centers are accessible to people with disabilities. Centers have assistive technology equipment allowing disaster survivors to use amplified telephones, phones that display text, amplified listening devices for people with hearing loss, and magnifiers for people with vision loss. Recovery information is also available in Braille. Video Remote Interpreting is available and in-person sign language is available by request. The centers also have accessible parking, ramps and restrooms.
Recovery officials encourage South Carolinians who registered for disaster assistance with FEMA to stay in touch, using the contact information above. If survivors change their addresses or phone numbers they should update FEMA with the information. Missing or inaccurate information could result in delays in receiving assistance.
For those who applied for a low-interest disaster loan with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), call the SBA’s Disaster Assistance Customer Service Center to update information or check the status of an application at: 800-659-2955; by email to disastercustomerservice@SBA.gov; or via the SBA website at sba.gov/disaster. Hard of hearing or deaf individuals may call 800-877-8339.
