Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Michael, Leon County residents have received more than $4.4 million in total federal funds:
More than $856,230 in federal grants have gone to 441 homeowners and renters.
Nine flood insurance claims have been filed. An estimated $69,000 in claims have been paid. (As of Dec. 14)
Nearly $4.3 million in U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans have been approved for 178 homeowners and renters and five businesses.
Housing Assistance:
Approximately $241,990 has been approved for basic housing repairs for 160 homeowners.
More than 2,570 home inspections have been issued and more than 99 percent completed.
Through Disaster Survivor Assistance outreach more than 3,850 survivors were connected with other recovery partners for needs beyond what FEMA can assist with.
160 homeowners and renters are approved for rental assistance.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has installed 30 blue roofs in Leon County representing 30 families who are able to live in their homes while they make permanent repairs.
Debris Removal:
Approximately 1.6 million cubic yards of debris has been removed in Leon County as reported to the USACE.
Outreach to Survivors:
The disaster recovery center at LeRoy Collins Main Library in Tallahassee opened Oct. 23 and closed on Dec. 8 after assisting more than 1,093 visitors.
