Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Michael, Holmes County residents have received more than $2 million in federal funds:
- 313 individuals and households have been approved for more than $481,000 in federal grants through FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program.
- More than $1.5 million in U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans have been approved for 55 homeowners and renters and three businesses.
- More than $284,000 has been approved for basic housing repairs for 121 homeowners.
- 717 home inspections have been issued with 99.7 percent completed.
- Approximately 137 survivors have not provided FEMA with the necessary information from their insurance settlements to complete their disaster assistance registration
- Through Disaster Survivor Assistance outreach more than 1,600 survivors were connected with disaster resources and recovery partners for needs beyond what FEMA can provide.
- 75 homeowners and renters approved for rental assistance.
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has installed 18 blue roofs in Holmes County representing 18 families who can live in their homes while they make permanent repairs.
- More than 58,800 cubic yards of debris has been removed in Holmes County.
- The disaster recovery center at the Holmes County Agricultural Center opened on Oct. 23 and closed on Dec. 5 after assisting 722 visitors.
