GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – As long-term recovery continues, the remaining 10 Community Recovery Centers, known as CRCs, will close on Nov. 21 and Dec. 5.
Centers typically close within a few weeks or months following a disaster, but due to the magnitude and impact of Hurricane María, FEMA and Puerto Rico’s Central Office for Recovery, Reconstruction and Resiliency, or COR3, kept centers open for more than two years. To date, the CRCs have hosted over 1 million visits, where survivors have received support from federal, local and voluntary agency representatives.
The CRCs at the following locations will close on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019 at 4 p.m.:
- Aguadilla
- Carolina
- Manatí
- Toa Baja
The CRCs at the following locations will close on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019 at 4 p.m.:
- Arecibo
- Bayamón
- Caguas
- Ponce
- Mayaguez
- San Juan
Survivors are encouraged to visit the centers before they close. To locate your nearest CRC, please visit FEMA.gov/disaster/4339/CRC.
Assistance from FEMA is still available online at disasterassistance.gov and by calling the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362. People who use a TDD may call 800-462-7585. Survivors can get updates on their assistance claim, provide changes of address or other personal information and learn about the appeals process, among other services.
Disaster assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will continue to be available through their Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 (TTY 800-877-8339), by email at disastercustomerservice@sba.gov and online at SBA.gov/disaster.
Additional help is also available to assist survivors with unmet needs through Disaster Case Management providers across all 78 Puerto Rico municipalities. For a list of providers and contact information, please visit at fema.gov/es/disaster/4339.
Puerto Rico’s Department of Housing may also provide assistance to survivors with hurricane-related housing needs through its Home Repair, Reconstruction or Relocation program, known as R3.
