Disaster Unemployment Assistance Deadline for SC a Week Away

Individuals in Charleston, Georgetown and Horry counties who lost their jobs or have been unable to work as a direct result of Hurricane Ian have one week left to apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance.

  • The deadline to apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance benefits is Wednesday, Dec. 28.
  • You may be eligible to receive disaster unemployment benefits from Oct. 2, 2022, to May 27, 2023, if you lost your job or have been unable to work because of Hurricane Ian.
    • These benefits are available to individuals, including small business owners and those who are self-employed.
  • For frequently asked questions on the Disaster Unemployment Assistance program and how to apply, go to https://dew.sc.gov/DUAFAQs. You can also visit the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce at dew.sc.gov and click the MyBenefits login to enter the portal and apply.
  • Applicants will be asked to submit information about your former employment and other documentation to support your claim that you were working or self-employed when Hurricane Ian struck South Carolina Sept. 30.  
    • You can upload the required documents to your MyBenefits account under the Documents tab.
