Hamtramck's Phase 1B Relief Sewer Project aims to tackle basement and street-level flooding through the construction of new relief combined sewers.
Hamtramck, Michigan: $9.35 million
Project Description
During large wet weather events, the city of Hamtramck has frequent basement and street-level flooding. This is due to an undersized sewer system which cannot support the population of over 24,000 residents. The Hamtramck Phase 1B Relief Sewer Project is a continuation of a sewer relief project installed in 2016.
This project involves new relief combined sewers. They will collect combined sewage from specific trunk sewers. It will then transport the overflows to the existing Phase 1A relief sewer. The project also includes the installation of an overflow structure and a relief sewer. This will alleviate surcharging issues.
