Jefferson Parish will raise 13 flood-prone structures and install green infrastructure to detain stormwater.
Jefferson Parish, Louisiana: $2.53 Million
Jefferson Parish proposes to raise 13 flood-prone structures and install green infrastructure to detain stormwater. Of these structures, there have been 20 repetitive loss or severe repetitive loss claims. The application has a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Social Vulnerability Index score greater than 0.6, indicating that the Parish is socially vulnerable. The engineering design phase will inform how to raise the structures, such as raising the structure on a wood frame, raising the slab, or separating the slab. Jefferson Parish will also install green infrastructure, such as rain barrels, rain gardens, and pervious pavement to shield the structures from flooding and erosion.
