Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Michael, Wakulla County residents have received more than $9.55 million in total federal funds:*
- More than $1.16 million in federal grants have gone to almost 300 homeowners and renters.
- More than 220 flood insurance claims have been filed. An estimated $5.4 million in claims have been paid.
- More than $3 million in U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans have been approved for 63 homeowners and renters and two businesses.
Housing Assistance:
- More than $711,000 has been approved for basic housing repairs for 148 homeowners.
- More than 740 home inspections have been issued and 98 percent completed.
- Disaster Survivor Assistance teams have DSA has conducted outreach with 1,683 households helping with registration, answering questions, providing case updates and making referrals to other recovery partners for needs beyond what FEMA can assist with.
- 159 homeowners and renters are approved for rental assistance.
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has installed six blue roofs in Wakulla County representing six families who are able to live in their homes while they make permanent repairs.
Outreach to Survivors:
- The disaster recovery center at the Community One Stop in Crawfordville opened Oct. 20 and has assisted 893 visitors.
