Mills County State/Federal Disaster Recovery Center Closes for Memorial Day

DES MOINES, Iowa – A joint state/federal Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Mills County will be closed Monday, May 27 to observe the Memorial Day national holiday. The center will resume normal hours Tuesday, May 28.

Recovery specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and other state and federal agencies provide information on available services, explain assistance programs and help survivors complete or check the status of their applications at the center.

The Disaster Recovery Center location and regular hours are:

Regular hours: Mon.-Wed. 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

 

Many of the services available at Disaster Recovery Centers also are available by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362.  Multilingual operators are available. Lines are open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time until further notice.

Iowa homeowners, renters and business owners in nine counties designated for the federal Individual Assistance Program, Fremont, Harrison, Louisa, Mills, Monona, Pottawattamie, Scott, Shelby and Woodbury counties, may apply for assistance with uninsured and underinsured damage and losses due to severe storms and flooding that occurred from March 12 to May 16, 2019. 

The deadline to register for federal assistance is Monday, July 1.
