BATON ROUGE, La. — The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policyholders affected by the August flood have until Friday, September 1, 2017 to submit a Proof of Loss form. A Proof of Loss form is a sworn statement made by the policyholder that substantiates the insurance claim.

The additional time allows policyholders to work with their insurance company to finalize claims. FEMA urges policyholders to submit forms as soon as possible.

This is the fourth extension granted since the August floods.
