FEMA Announces Grant For New Haven

Boston - The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is announcing funding for New Haven, Connecticut, for projects related to DR-4087-CT through FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). HMGP provides federal funds to eligible communities after a Presidentially-disaster declaration to reduce the impact of future events.

FEMA is awarding $1.8 million to New Haven to fund the upgrading of buildings and equipment at New Haven water control facilities.The funds are specific to DR-4087-CT and will cover expenses related to flood proofing and upgrading building and equipment at the following water control facilities:

Boulevard Pump Station, 19 Sea Street
East Shore Water Pollution Abatement Facility
East Street Pump Station

HMGP provides funds to states, tribes, and local communities after a disaster declaration to protect public or private property through various mitigation measures.

FEMA obligates funding directly to the State of Connecticut.  It is the State of Connecticut’s responsibility to ensure that communities receive these awards. Following the State of Connecticut’s review process, and upon receipt of appropriate documentation, funds are awarded on a reimbursable basis.

FEMA has a long-term commitment to help the State of Connecticut recover and to become more resilient by reducing disaster losses and protecting life and property from future disasters.
