Disaster Recovery Center Reopens in Yabucoa

GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – A disaster recovery center will reopen Thursday in Yabucoa to help disaster survivors and businesses affected by hurricanes Irma and María.

Beginning Thursday, July 26 the center’s hours are:
                                     Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
                                     Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Disaster recovery centers are staffed with representatives from the Government of Puerto Rico and municipalities in addition to FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration, nongovernmental organizations and the local community. Survivors can get help applying for federal assistance, learn about the types of assistance available as well as the appeals process and get updates about applications. The staff speaks English and Spanish.

Survivors with disabilities can be assured they will receive the same services and assistance offered to everyone in the disaster area. Disaster recovery centers have assistive technology equipment that allows disaster survivors to use amplified telephones; phones that display text; amplified listening devices for people with hearing loss, and magnifiers for people with vision loss. The centers also have accessible parking, ramps and restrooms.
