2024 Risk Communications, Crisis Communications and Community Engagement Summit Report

This report summarizes notable lessons and calls to action from speakers and panelists for creating more effective messaging and building strategies to better support disaster preparedness and response across diverse communities. The event brought together community and communication leaders to discuss emerging challenges, develop effective messaging strategies, and enhance community resilience to address new and emerging crises.

From day-to-day issues at the community level to transnational threats, our changing climate propels already challenging community conditions into chaos. Join a convening of risk and crisis communicators and community leaders on the front-line of the climate crisis and emerging hazards to:

  • Share invaluable tools and insights,
  • Implement culturally competent and accessible communications,
  • Integrate behavior change strategies,
  • Improve response practices during an incident, and
  • Discover what’s possible to strengthen how we communicate and engage to navigate complex and difficult issues.
