Event Details
FEMA will host “Industry Day,” an informational session at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, about its Direct Housing program, inviting property owners to lease their units to FEMA for use as temporary housing for people displaced by Hurricane Helene.
The session will be held virtually on Zoom. To register, visit Webinar Registration - Zoom.
Industry Day will explain two FEMA programs: Direct Lease, for ready-to-occupy units; and Multi-family Lease and Repair, in which FEMA will cover minor repairs or improvements to multi-family properties to make them ready for housing Helene survivors.
Families may be sheltered temporarily in FEMA Direct Housing properties for up to 18 months, until April 2026, with the possibility of extension. FEMA will cover the security deposit and inspect the home before a tenant moves in and after they move out. FEMA also pays all utility costs and covers any property damage up to the amount of the security deposit.
