Two weeks after President Joseph R. Biden declared a major disaster for the state of Connecticut following the August 18-19, 2024 severe storm, flooding, landslides and mudslides, more than $6 million in federal assistance has been provided by FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to support disaster recovery.

Residents of Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven Counties who lost access to water through their private wells or had damage to their septic system caused by the severe storm, flooding, landslides, and mudslides on August 18-19, 2024 may be eligible for financial assistance under FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program.

A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center will open in Wilton, Fairfield County on Thursday, October 3. The DRC, a temporary facility established in partnership between the state of Connecticut and FEMA, will help survivors affected by the August 18-19 severe storm, flooding, landslides, and mudslides apply for FEMA assistance, upload documents needed for their application and get their questions answered in person.
