FEMA has provided more than $7 Million in additional funds to support Utah COVID response efforts

DENVER – In the year since a National Emergency Declaration was issued for the Coronavirus Pandemic, FEMA Region 8 has provided more the $1.4 billion in assistance to states and tribal nations; nearly $32 million of that amount has directly supported state or local vaccination clinics. Region 8 encompasses the states of Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming along with the 29 federally recognized tribal nations within those boundaries.

DENVER – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has provided $1.2 million in additional funding for COVID-19 response efforts in Utah. To date, FEMA has provided more than $56.6 million in Public Assistance funding for COVID-19 response in Utah. The assistance was made available under a major disaster declaration issued April 4, 2020.

DENVER – FEMA provided more than $91.8 million to the state of Utah to supplement unemployment benefits for those who lost employment because of the coronavirus pandemic. On August 8, 2020, President Trump made available up to $44 billion from FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund to provide financial assistance to Americans who have lost wages due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

DENVER – FEMA has approved four states within FEMA Region 8 for development of crisis counseling programs for residents struggling with stress and anxiety as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.  The assistance is being made available to Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota and Utah and is available under major disaster declarations previously approved for these states by President Trump.
