FEMA Help for Disaster-Related Reburial Costs

South Carolina flooding was so severe that some coffins were forced from graves. Loved ones have faced the trauma and expense of reinternment.

Assistance may be available for reinternment expenses as a result of the flooding from Oct. 01, 2015 to Oct. 23, 2015.

FEMA can provide assistance for reburial expenses if the grave was in a privately owned cemetery or a family burial plot. A private cemetery is defined as one that has no religious or military affiliation and is not owned and operated by a city, state or county.

The person who incurred the expenses must register for FEMA assistance to request help with these expenses.
