Direct Housing eligible survivors of Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 13 Florida counties, whose homes are now uninhabitable, may be presented with Direct Lease as a temporary housing option to bridge the gap to their Permanent Housing Plan.

If you’re in FEMA’s Direct Housing program, you have been assigned a recertification advisor to support you on your path to permanent housing. Staying in regular contact with your advisor is essential to remain eligible for temporary housing.

If you are a survivor of the 2023 Maui wildfires, and you are in FEMA’s Direct Housing Program, the following information may help guide you through the rental payment process. Rental payment is a requirement for all Direct Housing participants. Failure to pay your rent on time may result in the loss of your rental reduction rate, as well as possible removal from the FEMA temporary housing program and your current unit.
