The Kahului Disaster Recovery Center at Maui College is suspending operations Wednesday, Nov. 29, because the forecast shows locally heavy rains, thunderstorms and possible flooding over the next three days.

FEMA specialists are extending their visit to a Foodland supermarket in Makawao, where they’re offering another week of free advice and tips on how to rebuild homes stronger and safer after the August wildfires.

You applied to FEMA for disaster assistance and received a determination, or decision, letter. You’re not sure what the letter means, but you think you may be ineligible for assistance. A determination letter is sent when your application is missing information such as proof of identity, proof you own your home, or proof you lived in your home for a major part of the year before the Aug. 8 wildfires on Maui.
