NFIP Floodplain Management Requirements: A Study Guide and Desk Reference for Local Officials
FEMA-480: This document can be used as a study guide to enhance the knowledge and skills of local officials responsible for administering and enforcing local floodplain management regulations. It is also intended to broaden their understanding of floodplain management strategies that can be applied at the local level. Local officials and others can use the study guide to help them study for the exam for the Association of State Flood-plain Manager’s (ASFPM) Certified Floodplain Manager designation.

Managing Floodplain Development in Approximate Zone A Areas
Provides information on obtaining and developing base flood elevations (BFEs) in Zone A Areas where BFEs are not listed on the Flood Insurance Rate Map or in the Flood Insurance Study. Goes over sources of base flood elevations, including federal, state and local sources; as well as simplified methods for estimating a base flood elevation including contour interpolation and data extrapolation.
