HATTIESBURG, Miss.--The disaster recovery center in Lamar County is adjusting hours of operation beginning Saturday. The center, run jointly by the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, will close at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7.
The center is located at:

- Through Friday, Feb. 3, the center will be open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb. 4, the center will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday, Feb. 5, the center will be open noon to 5 p.m.
- Monday, Feb. 6, the center will be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, Feb. 7, the center will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
After the center closes Tuesday, storm survivors in Lamar County can still get help by visiting one of two remaining disaster recovery centers located in Forrest County or they can call the FEMA helpline. Many of the same services available at a disaster recovery center are also available by calling the helpline. Locations for the Forrest County centers can be found by calling the FEMA helpline, by downloading the FEMA app or by visiting fema.gov/DRC.
MEMA and FEMA encourage Mississippi survivors who registered for disaster assistance with FEMA to stay in touch. If survivors change mailing addresses or phone numbers, they should update FEMA with the information. Missing or incorrect information could result in delays in receiving assistance.
Survivors in Forrest, Lamar, Lauderdale and Perry counties who have not yet registered for federal assistance can do so one of the following ways:
- Online at DisasterAssistance.gov.
- Download the FEMA mobile app.
- FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 or TTY 800-462-7585. The toll-free numbers are open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Help is available in most languages and information on the registration process is available in American Sign Language at www.fema.gov/media-library/assets/videos/111546.
- Survivors who need help registering with FEMA can do so at a disaster recovery center.
Survivors with a communication-related disability may request reasonable accommodations to aid in communication. For instance, they may request an American Sign Language interpreter. Accommodations can be requested by contacting (770) 241-5525 or (800) 621-3362.
