WASHINGTON — The whole-of-America response to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic continued today, as a shipment of PPE arrived at a Washington, D.C., nursing facility.
National Guardsmen continued their support, while healthcare workers and frontliners were honored in northern Arizona.
Meanwhile, FEMA continues coordinating Project Airbridge flights for critical medical supplies distribution. As of May 7, Project Airbridge has completed 124 flights with an additional 34 scheduled or in transit. Two flights landed Thursday in Los Angeles. Another flight is scheduled today for Los Angeles.
Through Project Airbridge, the following supplies have been delivered from overseas manufacturers to the U.S. and into private sector supply chains from March 29 to May 7:
- More than 768,000 N-95 masks.
- More than 899 million gloves.
- More than 87 million surgical masks.
- More than 14.8 million surgical gowns.
- More than 2.3 million thermometers.
- More than 886,000 face shields.
- More than 392,000 coveralls.
- More than 109,000 stethoscopes.
- More than 370,000 oxygen masks.
- More than 250,000 swabs.
- More than 160,000 cannulas.
FEMA has obligated more than $5.8 billion in emergency protective measures. In the past 24 hours, that amount includes $6 million for New Jersey.
Washington, D.C. Nursing Home Receives PPE
WASHINGTON (May 8, 2020) — A Forest Hills nursing home employee poses with part of a FEMA- coordinated shipment of PPE the senior center received. The facility is one of over 15,000 Medicaid and Medicare-certified nursing homes across the country receiving PPE.

Illinois National Guard Supports COVID-19 Testing Site
WAUKEGAN, Ill. (May 7, 2020) — Soldiers from the Illinois National Guard's 108th Sustainment Brigade conduct COVID-19 testing at a facility in Waukegan, Illinois. The drive-thru facility operates daily to serve the residents of Lake County.

Mobile USO Supports Midwest Servicemembers
JOHNSTON, Iowa (May 7, 2020) — Sgt. Alexandra Danker, a military police officer with the 186th Military Police Company, visits the Mobile USO Camp Dodge. The Mobile USO came from Ohio and will be traveling from Camp Dodge to Iowa City and then to Rock Island, Illinois, bringing snacks to service members who are responding to COVID-19.

Military Spouse Makes Face Masks to Fight COVID-19
TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (May 7, 2020) — Jenn Taylor takes a break from sewing at her home on Travis Air Force Base. Since Department of Defense guidance directed the use of face coverings on April 3, Taylor has sewn more than 325 masks for members of the military community, all while caring for her three children during her spouse’s deployment.

National Guardsmen Transport Hand Sanitizer
BALTIMORE (May 7, 2020) — U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Nicholas Updike arranges covering and rope on the trailer before loading more pallets of alcohol-based sanitizer at the production center in Baltimore. The soldiers transported seven pallets of sanitizer to a redistribution warehouse in Hanover, Maryland, as part of the response to COVID-19.

Arizona Air Guard Pays Tribute to Nurses, Healthcare Workers
NORTHERN ARIZONA (May 7, 2020) — An F-16 Fighting Falcon, one of four aircraft from the Arizona Air National Guard’s 162nd Wing and 161st Air Refueling wing, conduct a tribute flyover and refueling mission in Northern Arizona. The flyover was in tribute to the nurses and healthcare works on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19 and was combined with an air refueling mission.
