Sharrie Abrams is currently serving as the FEMA Region 4 Acting Deputy Regional Administrator, pausing her current role as the region’s Mission Support Division (MSD) Director while on assignment.
Previously at Region 4, Abrams was the Director of the Grants Management Division, processing more than $95 million in federal grant funds annually. She also served as the regional A-133 audit manager and the Grants Business Branch Chief for several years in the region.
Before joining FEMA, Abrams worked for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Foreign Labor Certification Division in Atlanta as a Manpower Development Specialist, as well as a Project Officer in the Employment and Training Administration Division where she was responsible for managing faith-based and work incentive grant programs.
Her federal career began in 2000, when she joined the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. as an Executive Staff Assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Field Operations, working as the Project Manager for the Historical Black Colleges and Universities Initiative. Abrams transferred to the U.S. Department of Labor in Atlanta, GA in 2003 and served in various positions. She began her career in 1995, working for nine years in her hometown of Charleston, SC with the County Grants Administration Division.
Abrams holds a paralegal degree from Watterson College in Charleston.
